A U.S.-based public company with a net worth of over $13 billion has signed a deal with IOTA Foundation for enhanced traceability in supply chain.
Known as Zebra technologies, a company that focuses on producing, tracking, and marking of computer printing technology, partnered with IOTA to facilitate traceability in its supply chain by bringing every scanned data into the Tangle, NewsLogical can confirm.
Zebra Technologies manufactures varieties of data processing and acquisition software and equipment. A few of the company’s products include tablets, barcode scanner, thermal barcode label, RFID readers, RFID chip label printer, etc. Zebra Technologies is a tech company with over 10,000 distribution partners across the globe and more than 7,400 employees.
In 2018, Zebra Technologies made a sale of $4.218 billion. The company was established in 1969, and has over 10,000 partners in more than 100 countries of the world. Zebra has filed over 4,400 patent applications and it has over 100 offices in 45 countries.
Barcode scanners and RFID developed by Zebra technologies as revealed by both corporations via a webinar will be connected to IOTA Tangle. The IOTA Foundation also revealed the announcement on its official Twitter page.
In the same vein, the IOTA Tangle will be integrated into the Zebra Technologies’ Savanna solution. The Savanna solution is a cloud data platform offered by Zebra Technologies, to provide application interface (APIs), this is in a bid to easily and efficiently transform data, product, device into secure scalable digital services, and develop a service called “Blockchain Traceability”.
Blockchain Traceability is regarded as an out-of-the-box solution designed for companies to track their products, nevertheless, a REST API is sufficient for developers to retrieve and store data from the blockchain. The good news now is that blockchain API has now been extended to IOTA through Zebra Savanna.
In a statement by Alex Fryer from Zebra technologies, the collaboration is an exciting one and the first of its kind. He furthered that customers can begin to test the API through Zebra’s technologies portal using an RFID scanner.
Launch Date for IOTA’s GoShimmer v.0.2.0 Draws Closer
Earlier NewsLogical revealed that IOTA is set to launch its new GoShimmer v.0.2.0. However, the launch date is now closer than ever, with just a few days to the end of the month. GoShimmer is an advanced prototype of IOTA node software; it was developed to further decentralize the IOTA network by building consensus and introduce Coordicide without the coordinator.
GoShimmer, also referred to as IOTA 2.0, is scheduled to be released by June ending, alongside “Parallel Reality-Based Ledger State” consensus. Parallel Reality, otherwise known as Tangle Multiverse, is a new consensus model intended to boost efficiency and security on IOTA 2.0.
The Co-founder of IOTA Foundation, Serguei Popov, regarded Parallel Reality as one of the topics that will dominate research in the future. He further stated all tests for implementing the next GoShimmer Parallel Reality-based ledger has been carried out by the IOTA team.
Popov pointed out that the IOTA team believes that a number of new features included on the next GoShimmer are best fits for the IOTA decentralized network.
