A blockchain-based market place that ensures verification and authenticity of products listed on its platform has welcomed age-long Jamaican coffee brand ‘Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee’ on its platform for listing, and its authenticity is to be verified on VeChainThor Blockchain.
Real Item, which went live in February, made the official announcement today, September 29, after an early hint on September 24.
Real Item noted that every Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee product that would be listed on its market place comes with an NFR or limited edition NFT which is based on VeChain Blockchain.
The blockchain platform said it is pleased to have the coffee brand product on its marketplace, henceforth; lovers of coffee can enjoy a great treat on the platform.
The first batch of the product would be rolled out with airdrops, “but more like an easter egg,” Real Item said.
Real Item Marketplace now offers customers a 15% discount on every purchase of the coffee with coupon code “realitems.”
Due to the good repute Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee has built over the years, it is positioned among one of the world’s most sought after and most expensive coffees across the world. Also, a large chunk of the brand’s coffee (more than 75%) is being transferred to Japan for sale. Blue Mountain coffee is known for its mild-flavored and less bitter coffee.
Before now, the Jamaican Coffee company had made great efforts to ensure the authenticity of its products with a protection certification mark issued by the Jamaica Commodities Regulatory Authority, and the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica monitors the cultivation of its products.
Nevertheless, the latest listing offer customers of the coffee brand robust and reliable information about every product they purchase. Products’ complete story can be obtained by scanning the QR code placed on the traded products.
VeChain traceability technology is being used in various places across the world especially in the supply chain. Walmart China already adopted VeChain technology to ensure the traceability and security of food products on its platform.
The partnership between VeChain and Walmart China can be traced back to June 2019, when the China section of the colossal marketplace announced a collaboration with PwC and VeChain to ensure the authenticity of food products on its platform.
Aside from that, myriads of companies like the world’s third-largest pasta producer De Cecco, India’s third-largest hotel chain, the world’s oldest republic, among others, have adopted VeChain blockchain solution for traceability, transparency, and authenticity.
