Following a blockchain deal signed by the world renounced Spanish football club Barcelona, 40 million Barça Fan Token is to be released to fans, a report has said.
Barcelona has now found its way into the crypto world after signing its first blockchain partnership deal with Chiliz, a blockchain-based sport and entertainment platform.
The collaboration was sealed in the presence of the members Board of Directors and head of the Commercial Area of FC Barcelona, Josep Pont, and the Chief Executive Officer of Chiliz, Alexandre Dreyfus at the Barcelona Camp Nou Stadium during an event.
Dreyfus, after signing the deal, presented the new FC Barcelona 19/20 home jersey.
Barcelona says the deal is part of its global expansion strategy, regarding it as a digital and commercial strategy of the club to let fans around the world have access to club’s product through ‘Barça Fan Tokens.’
Also, the latest innovation of the club would let Barcelona move closer and interact better with fan around the globe, giving them the ability to earn via an everyday Barca’s polls and surveys on Chiliz fan voting rewards mobile app Socios.com.
The Barça Fan Tokens ($BAR) would be made available to fans of the club Q2 2020. 40 million $BAR digital currency, rated €2 each at the initial point of sale, would be made for fans.
Barcelona said the collaboration would help it to continue to secure its lead role not only on the field of play, but also in the field of partnerships and sports marketing.
While commenting on the partnership, Josep said the club is excited to bring Chiliz into the Barcelona family. He added that the blockchain platform gives the club the opportunity to initiate innovative marketing and partnership as well as bridging the gap between the fans and the club.
“This agreement also forms part of FC Barcelona’s goal to become associated with leading brands that can help us consolidate our new commercial and digital strategy, with the development of new streams for the generation of resources helping to make us a benchmark both on and off the field,” Josep said.
FC Barcelona has also joined the Socios.com family, Dreyfus said, describing the club as and the most supported football club in the world
