For some time now, there have been rumors of an ongoing debate about whether or not the supply of Bitcoins should be increased to meet the rising demand.
However, there are those like Wladimir Van Der Laan who don’t subscribe to the idea that the finite supply of BTC should ever be pumped up. Wladimir leads the maintenance team that oversees Bitcoin’s most popular software.
It’s Bullsh**
In a twitter post he wrote responding to the said debate, Wladimir called out Jiang Zhuoer as a liar and harshly opined that the only reason for the buzz about increasing Bitcoin supply is so as to ramp up BCash sales and scam people.
About the debate going on within the Bitcoin developer team, Wladimir described the scenario in very strong terms and said that no person in their right frame of mind should be thinking about increasing Bitcoin supply.
They’ve Been Planning
According to a post written by Jiang on the Chinese blogging site, Weibo, the Bitcoin developer team has been planning to increase BTC supply for a long time. Such posts have instigated a lot of backlash and heated conversations within the crypto community.
Despite the fact that Bitcoin is now scarce, Wladimr thinks that any attempt to increase its supply would undermine its utility and offset the masse’s psychology about it value. As a matter of fact, no one would want to willingly devalue their asset, but that’s exactly what would happen if Bitcoin’s supply were to be increased.
Bitcoin Is Leaderless
Apparently, Jiang claims that the developer team had already agreed to increase the supply, but that presents a rather disturbing case.
For one, as a fully decentralized system, Bitcoin has no leader, and the notion of any group of people assuming the power to change things around as they wish would make it centralized. Wladimir says that he has always striven to prevent such a scenario.
