Bitcoin has been handed another huge popularity during the English Premier League post-match press conference today, September 15, Today’s Gazette can confirm.
In a post-match speech made by two Watford players, Tom Cleverley and Étienne Capoue, Bitcoin was being shown to spectators around the world.
The press statement, made after Watford ratcheted up an inspiring comeback against Arsenal to end the game in a tie, saw spaces assigned to Bitcoin on the walls of the press room.
The gesture signals huge awareness that can initiate worthwhile adoption for the digital currency, depicting that there is a relationship between Watford and Bitcoin.
During the week, Watford Football Club announced the addition of Bitcoin logo brand to the arms of its club’s jerseys after extending its partnership deal with Sportsbet.io.
As the classy exposure received by Bitcoin among its supporters served as a great premise for the latest development, the digital currency is sure of getting the English Premier League publicity throughout the season and beyond.
Sportsbet.io, a betting company with crypto affiliation signed a three years deal with the premier league football team. Watford, through the collaboration, will promote the Bitcoin backed gambling company in the football league.
Also, fans can now purchase the clubs merchandise with Bitcoin from the team’s store as Sportsbet.io becomes the official sponsor of the club’s T-shirt
Justin Le Brocque, the head of marketing at Sportsbet.io, dubbed the partnership as a great disruption in the traditional sports sponsorship world, hoping that more buzz would be created around cryptocurrency.
However, this isn’t the first time the nascent technology will be making presence in the world of sport. Clubs like Arsenal, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Brighton among other have also partnered with crypto based companies in the past.
Yeni Malatyaspor, a Turkish football club, also signed a deal with a cryptocurrency exchange company, BtcTurk, early this month.
As Bitcoin awareness continues to create uproar in the crypto community, an enthusiast of the coin averred that the last time something like this happened, BTC spiked to around $20K
