Cryptocurrency project and payment platform company Crypto.com that works toward mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency has just announced the onboarding of an erstwhile executive of giant payment companies like Western Union, Visa and Coinbase, Antonio Alvarez, as its Chief Compliance Officer.
The payment platform, in the announcement, said Alvarez would be saddled with the responsibility of leading the global regulatory compliance of Crypto.com’s products.
Due to the experience the new CCO had garnered before now, Crypto.com brought in Alvarez with the aim of strengthening the commitment of the company toward regulatory compliance and crypto adoption across the world as the market keeps growing rapidly.
Ahead of joining Crypto.com., Alvarez had served at Visa International Operating Regulations as the Senior Business Leader, he spearheaded Coinbase’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program and also held the role of Vice President for compliance at Western Union for 3 years.
Alvarez started his career at the US Department of Commerce as the program director, and he stepped forward to at American Express, where he held different positions for 13 years. However, Alvarez is also served as the Chief Compliance Officer at Coinme at present.
Before now, Elena Sabkova, a qualified regulatory attorney who previously served as a senior executive in top payment companies like US operations of Paysafe and OpenPayd, had been sitting at Crypto.com as the Chief Compliance Officer & US General Counsel. However, she seems to still hold the position.
In a statement of acknowledgment, Alvarez said Crypto.com has long been a company he admired a lot due to a baseline policy of the company which includes a deep commitment to risk management, regulatory compliance, and security. He said he’s pleased to be part of Crypto.com’s team, dedicated to strengthening the adoption of cryptocurrency across the globe.
He further pledged to support the growth of the company and ensure that Crypto.com turns out to be a fully regulated company in all key jurisdictions of the world.
The CEO of Crypto.com, Kris Marszalek, also expressed delight toward the onboarding of the highly skilled and experienced worker into the leadership team of the company. Kris beleives Alvarez will be a great addition to the company, stating that in consonance with Crypto.com, Alavrez brings in an encompassing experience from the traditional financial market and the nascent cryptocurrency industry.

Crypto.com is known for bringing in top-notch personnel into its team. The present Chief Information Officer of Crypto.com, Matthew Chan, had previously served at Baker McKenzie, RBS, Credit Suisse and Honda. Also, Cerulean Hu, the company’s SVP, Blockchain Engineering, led HSBC in developing a trading algorithm.
