With the aim of developing a better ecosystem for EOS blockchain technology, the team behind the cryptocurreny in conjunction with Block.one, have designed a sequential event known as EOS (EOS) Hackathon which is centered on creating innovative DApp for the use.
Subsequent to the successful inauguration of the first EOS Global Hackathon event of the year which took place in Hong Kong, another similar event was held in Sydney Australia.
This time, developers were charged with the responsibility of creating DApps that help proffer solution or mitigate environmental problems.
The program which was themed “Hack the Outback” tasked developers to build empowering DApp on EOSIO platform for the public so that they can play a role in nourishing natural environments for the future.
The event which hosted 50 teams that comprises of 200 international participants saw three finalist that walked off with cash prizes and an opportunity to contend for a grand finale reward of US$500,000 after 26 consecutive hours of programming contest.
Winners Of The Sydney EOS Hackathon
An Australian team won the First Prize team, US$100,000 after successfully developing a web application, Smart Press on EOSIO platform. The DApp permits environmentally driven persons to develop smart contract for land preservation.
The idea which aims at democratising blockchain technology was tested with an environmental boundary mapping tool.
While the other two succeeding winning teams were also from Australia, the second place team, led by one Oleksandr Rybalko, created a DApp named GreenKeep which allows farmers including suppliers and consumers to decentralized, verify and keep record of their produce source.
Emerging as the third place winner is a team that developed the TokenTree DAPP. A technology that that authorizes individuals to exchange tokens for their planted trees.
Other important prices given out includes the Best Social Impact, Best User Experience and Best Social Post.
The winner of Best Social Impact developed the Jarmbi project, a blockchain game. A project that allows people to find, snap and gather Australian wildlife and benchmarks.
While the Best User Experience award was bagged by the team that produced the GreenFix DApp, team WeFarm was awarded with the price of Best Social Post.
