Huobi Charity charity platform of blockchain group Huobi has announced a joint partnership with the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC).
According to the terms of the partnership, Huobi has launched a 15-day campaign to raise $143,000 in cryptocurrencies to support COVID-19 relief funds. It is understood that the campaign would accept Bitcoins (BTC), Huobi Token (HT), Tether (USDT), and HUSD.
The campaign is a response to the global Coronavirus pandemic which has affected over 4 million people worldwide and is aimed towards South-South countries. This refers to developing countries located primarily in the Southern region and countries across Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
The region is plagued with fragile healthcare systems that can be overwhelmed with the growing number of cases within its local population. Huobi aims to provide funds that would enable much needed medical supplies and personal protective gears to reach frontline workers.
Furthermore, the campaign aims to raise enough cash to procure between 300,000 to 500,000 face masks to the South-South regions. The crypto charity platform has contributed 17,711 Huobi Tokens estimated to be around $69,000 which is half of the total target.
Huobi also has plans to leverage its blockchain community to raise awareness about the campaign to achieve its goal. Meanwhile, FCSSSC will provide logistical support to ensure that the funds are used to properly and sent to the affected regions.
