Cardano blockchain technology has released the latest version of Jormungandr to improve the network stability of its node. The commercial arm of Cardano, IOHK, made the declaration while revealing updates on the Cardano Incentivized Shelley Testnet.
On the Cardano forum, the team said the new version of Jormungandr, Jormungandr 0.9.0, was released Tuesday, June 23. This is coming months after a previous version, Jormungandr 0.8.6, was released in January. The Jormungandr node has been responsible for powering the ITN since the first Shelley testnet network was launched.
IOHK noted that the Jormungandr 0.9.0 will be introducing a new and especially embedded CLI-based voting system that allows stake pool operators to have better access. IOHK described the CLI-based voting as an ‘Easter egg.’
The introduction of CLI-based voting is an attempt by IOHK to keep Cardano’s option open for future use of ITN.
Cardano Ambassador Rick McCracken also confirmed the launch of the new version Jormungandr. McCracken, on his official Twitter handle, said he’s running the Jormungandr 0.9.0.
The Jormungandr 0.9.0 Version comes with an improvement in terms of network code and storage.
IOHK: Dedication to Incentivized Shelley Testnet will Add Value to Cardano’s Future Development
IOHK has also said it will continue to work on the Incentivized Shelley Testnet (ITN) with dedication as the ITN shows remarkable success since launch. IOHK said it will be leveraging the success of ITN a little longer.
The commercial arm of Cardno also stated that devoting energy on the ITN for fast prototyping and testing would go a long way adding more precision to the Cardano’s future development, thus, it will continue working on ITN till the Shelley mainnet is fully released.
IOHK, in response to concerns from the community, said continuous work on ITN will not cause resources diversion or affect the mainnet release of Shelley. IOHK clarified that the team in charge of Jormungandr is variably different from developers working on Shelley rollout.
The research and development company behind Cardano, IOHK, said ITN will in fact add value to the staking mechanisms and the Ouroboros Praos consensus by enhancing their development.
