Far beyond expectation, the purchase of blockchain-based content Steemit by Tron’s Justin Sun created frenzy in the Steem and crypto community as some are already fearing that CEO Sun is taking over Steem network due to the amount of shares Steemit hold.
While a number of TRON followers backed Justin Sun especially in his attempt to take back the Steem network from some alleged “hackers”, British-American computer programmer John David McAfee seems to be seeing things from the other side as he downplayed Justin Sun’s action.
McAfee said Justin Sun is only attempting to garner water with a sieve. Rather than support Sun, McAfee took to the other side, undermining the millennial CEO.
He said if Sun had forgotten, he’ll like to remind him that Steem is a community, and a community cannot be purchased.
“I believe Justin Sun forgot one thing about Steem: It is a community,” McAfee said.
The renowned computer programmer who just quitted the US presidential campaign seems to be on the same page with those who claimed Sun is attempting to take over the Steem Network by purchasing Steemit.
Earlier some hackers allegedly froze 65 million STEEM, taking over the Steem network in a bid to eliminate the potency of Justin Sun’s Steemit on the network. However, Justin Sun later cleared the air, revealing that the hackers have been defeated.
Justin Sun claimed the hackers’ threat to nullify Steem network puts the interest of STEEM token holders at risk. Nevertheless, after defeating the hackers, Sun said users’ funds are now safe.
After the hackers were overpowered, the CEO expressed gratitude to some exchange for their joint effort in the success of the task. Exchanges like Binance, Houbi Global, Poloniex supported Tron Foundation and Steemit in the tussle.
The battle continues with allegation that Sun’s accusations were false, as the alleged hackers were community-elected representatives saddled with the responsibility of safeguarding the platform from Steemit.
However, a question yet to be answered is “Why is the community now making move to reduce the power of Steemit in the Steem network only when Justin Sun acquired it.”
