Since Bitcoin came into being way back in 2009, there have been lots of speculations as to who the real creator might be. Satoshi Nakamoto is just a name, very possibly just a nickname that Bitcoin’s creator gave themselves to shield their real identity. Over the years, various people have fingered some popular figures like Nick Szabo and the late Harold Finney as being some credible candidates for the possible real creator. However, none of these people has ever claimed to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto, until Craig Wright did it.

Satoshi Or No Satoshi?

Craig is an Australian computer scientist and early adopter of cryptos, especially Bitcoin. Over the last few years, Craig Wright has stepped into the limelight and attempted to declare himself the real brains behind the world’s most popular and pioneer crypto, Bitcoin. In essence, Craig has claimed to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto.

For one, Satoshi Nakamoto is said to have mined and set aside a total of 1 million Bitcoins that only he/she can access using a special key. As such, Craig has come under heavy fire from various quarters of the crypto space, with numerous people demanding for him to present evidence that he’s the real Satoshi Nakamoto. So far, Craig has provided no credible evidence in the form of the mentioned access keys. This has prompted some creative characters in the crypto community to brand him “FakeToshi.”

Charlie Lee And The Captain Take Aim At FakeToshi

Granted, Craig has faced intense criticism stemming from his claim of being Bitcoin’s creator, and those who have expressed some support for him have come under fire too. The latest incident involves one twitter fan of Craig against Philanthropist William Shatner and Litecoin’s creator Charlie Lee. In a tweet, the fan expressed some support for Craig, urging people to give him the benefit of doubt and suggesting that Craig could actually be Satoshi.

That tweet didn’t go down well with William Shatner who shared it and dropped his own caption to counter the fan’s statement. In essence, William just wants Craig to provide evidence that he’s really Satoshi Nakamoto instead of people relying of the benefit of the doubt.

Litecoin’s Charlie Lee supported William’s logical point of view. He actually retweeted “Captain’s” post in support.
