The Blockchain Association, a crypto advocacy group, on Tuesday, expanded its board by adding Kraken, The Stellar foundation, and 0x as board members. Looking at the latest additions, it seems the focus of expansion was towards decentralized finance (DeFi), which is currently the hot cake of crypto space. The other key focus of the association seems to be regulatory expertise.

To accommodate these new members and diversify the board’s representation, it has also increased the total number of seats from 9 to 10.

0x is a decentralized exchange protocol, the Stellar Foundation looks after the Stellar ecosystem, and Kraken is a popular crypto exchange that recently became a chartered crypto bank in the United States. The addition of the new three members would allow the association to have more diverse representation, especially in the defi space.

Kristin Smith, Blockchain Association’s Executive Director, reaffirmed the same and said,

“With DeFi being such a trend these days we wanted to make sure we had representation”

Stellar Foundation would be represented by Stellar’s General Counsel Candace Kelly, who is well versed with the law enforcement, 0x will be represented by Senior Counsel Jason Somensatto while Kraken will be represented by Chief Legal Officer Marco Santori.

The Blockchain Association’s nine-member board had two of it’s the seat vacated in the last three months itself, where the first vacancy came into being after a representative of crypto custody firm Anchorage decided to leave the company. The second vacancy was created by Coinbase, which left the association in protest against Binance.US getting a board member seat. While a third vacancy or 10th seat was created by the association itself to ensure a more diverse representation.
