Toast Wallet has decided to shut down in protest over the way Ripple Labs, Inc. treats its community of developers, the wallet has claimed. It, therefore, enjoins all its users to move their XRP funds out of the platform.

In an update, Toast says it decided to shut down and remove its app from the App Stores after experiencing the “abysmal treatment of community developers” by Ripple.

Consequently, Toast Wallet says all existing installs on iOS, Android and Windows will seize to function as required, nevertheless, Toast source code will continue to be on the Github since Toast is an open-source platform.

The unforeseen decision by Toast Wallet to shut down has left the XRP community in disarray as Toast was among the early wallets used by the XRP community.

Toast proclaimed that it will return when xPring employs a clear and transparent community developer support, Funds under Toast watch are safe and can be accessed through its browser, but it is still not clear if the exchange will decide uprooting the browser wallet too since it enjoined its users to move the funds to other wallets.

Ripple’s Executive Responds to Toast Wallet’s Allegation

One of Ripple’s strong executive has responded to Toast Wallet’s allegation that Ripple is giving its community developers abysmal treatments.

Warren Paul Anderson, Head of Developer Relations at Ripple and xPring, says the enterprise blockchain solution provider is a big fan of Toast Wallet. He, therefore, enjoin the Toast Wallet team to publish a proposal with “tangible thoughts and ideas” on how the xPring can work better with its community of developers and the proposal would be well appreciated and considered in good faith.

We're big fans and supporters of Toast. @XpringDev is an open platform in more ways than one. Feel free to publish a proposal, with tangible thoughts and ideas on how we can improve, and we will consider it!

What Could Have Gone Wrong

There are several thoughts on the matter among the XRP crypto community. The Toast Wallet, owned by a New Zealand based company, StartStone Limited, had over 100,000 users since it was created in 2017.

By abysmal treating allegation against Ripple, it is possible the software company has not been receiving the needed funding from Ripple’s xPring. Notice that the Toast Wallet called for a clear and transparent dealing with the developer community, but did not elaborate further on what has gone wrong to demand such from Xpring.

Ripple invests in businesses across the globe, however, it has not revealed the modus operandi of its investment spray. xPring, Ripple’s investment section, had invested in several businesses related to XRP in recent time, to the extent that it invested in XRPL Labs, whose founder felt bad for the decision made by Toast Wallet and suggested that the wallet users move their funds to XUMM, a new creation of XRPL Labs.

Founder of XRPL Labs, Wietse Wind, said Toast Wallet was the first wallet he ever used. He said he had consulted with the founder of Toast before suggesting that users of the wallet move to XUMM.
