Tron (TRX) and BitTorrent (BTT)’s Justin Sun has announced the donation of $250,000 to ALS Association for #VoiceYourLove campaign centred on raising awareness on the need to get a treatment and a cure for people suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also regarded as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
In the same line, Binance Charity Foundation has pledged an additional $150,000 for the same campaign.
The campaign, which will begin on during the Valentine’s Day celebrations of love and affection, is set to challenge people to create videos that show love to people who’ve been meaningful to their lives through their tablets or phones.
The founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent who donated a whopping some of $250,000 showed his happiness and readiness to be working with ALS Association.
Justin Sun said, “The TRON and BitTorrent community has over 100 million people, and it’s statistically possible that thousands of you are afflicted with ALS,” adding that “I’m donating $250,000 and urging others in the blockchain industry to voice their love by donating to help find a cure.”
Justin Sun, according to an update, is joining the likes of actors Renée Zellweger and Courteney Cox who happen to be the first set of celebrities to join the campaign.
The Voiceyourlove.org will host the celebrity videos, and help the community understand how get involved and accept donations.
What is ALS?
As seen today, ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease hampering nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain.
Through the disease, people suffering from ALS cannot move or speak and find it hard to breathe. The disease is always terminal, especially within 2-5years of diagnosis.
Tron will be using its distributed ledger technology to monitor the location of the disbursed donation and plans to release every information after the donation is completed.
Why is Tron (TRX) Joining VoiceYourLove Campaign?
According to Tron, the decision to join the campaign was due to the fact that Frank Bailinson, director of product management at BitTorrent, lost his sister who also suffered from the ailment.
“The loss of my sister drove me to do something meaningful in the fight against ALS,” says Frank Bailinson.
Meanwhile, after Binance donation, the foundation calls on interested participants to also donate on Binance Charity, a blockchain-powered donation platform that accepts BTC, ETH, and BNB.
