Nothing less than 41,000 Electroneum users in Turkey can now use the Electroneum to top up their mobile airtime and data. Information made available to Today’s Gazette reveals that Electroneum (ETN), a UK-based cryptographic project focusing on mobile and smart phone users, in partnership with three firms, now allows topping up of mobile phones with cryptocurrency.
Via Electroneum mobile app, crypto users of third-party network providers Turkcell, Vodafone and Turk Telekom which cover 100% of Turkey, can now make instant and easy top-up with their ETN assets. The crypto mobile phone top-ups has longed been an aspiration of Electroneum, users who have the mobile application can now make an initial top up of up to US$3 in ETN for free.
Turkey remains a top crypto friendly country, and the three mobile network providers have a joint user-base of about 80 million. As cryptocurrency adoption continues to grow, the new crypto service offered in the country may escalate beyond the 41+K Electroneum users in the region.
Electroneum also offers the same unique service to its Brazilian users, and it has been rated the most visited crypto project website in the country ahead of Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP, among others.
The team behind the cryptographic project speaks of the latest development as a huge step for Electroneum, adding that it tallies with its mission. Richard Ells, the CEO at Electroneum, addressed the development as a way forward for Electroneum, revealing that the progress marks the first time users will be able to use ETN to top up their mobile phones with all network providers in a country.
Previously in February, Electroneum established the same service for its South African users. Albeit not covering 100% of the country, like Turkey and Brazil because Electroneum partnered with only a network provider, the experience in South Africa has been prolific, serving as a healthy premise for deployment to other countries. Electroneum targeted breaking the cycle of poverty in South Africa by giving unbanked persons in the country access to the service.
With a growing 3.2 million registered users, the development is creating more awareness for Electroneum as thousands of people sign up for the service daily.
