Nothing less than 10 projects have been highlighted to be built on the Ripple-launched PayID, and of the projects, few are said to be using XRP token, NewsLogical can confirm.
The projects evolved out of an hackathon announced in June, where over $25,000 was doled out on Devpost to increase the engagement of developers around PayID, which was created in partnership with close to 50 companies across the world.
After a rigorous attempt at narrowing down the award winners, 10 projects were selected as finalists at the PayID hackathon award ceremony.
Ripple executives were judges at the ceremony, and they asked questions regarding the projects to determine their viability. In the end, 7 honorable mentions evolved from the hackathon and they were awarded $500 in XRP.
Ripay, built with PayID, makes the transfer of XRP easy through massaging apps like Discord, Matrix, Telegram, and others. Among the projects include Xpayments.me, a platform for cryptocurrency payment information.
During the ceremony, Upay, a platform that makes payments for online services easy, was also showcased.
While the above projects only received honorable mention, the 3rd place award was given to Unisend, an app used to connect a bank account and make global money transfer free of charge using PayID on XRP Ledger. The app designer received $2,500 in XRP for the outstanding project.
For the 2nd place, 0Games, a peer-to-peer 0% charges video game cryptocurrency marketplace, designed using PayID, received the 2nd place award and won $5,000 in XRP.
The 1st place award was given to a developer tool used for performing checks to authenticate PayID response headers. The project named PayID Validator received $15,000 in XRP for the grand prize.
